Shocking: Mario Balotelli Expresses Remorse Over Morosini Death

Perspective and Mario Balotelli don’t go together. They mix about as well as oil and water or LeBron James and Mike Brown. Yet, after the sudden death of Livorno’s Piermario Morosini during a match this past Saturday, Balotelli showcased that noun that has eluded him thus far.

According to La Gazetto dello Sport, the Manchester City and Italian forward (and former youth national teammate of Morosini) said that, “[Morosini] was a great lad. It’s a terrible event and makes you reflect on your own existence. It teaches you to appreciate life and to live it with care and dignity.” Readers, take particular note of the last three words. Although it’d be in poor taste to chastise Balotelli’s hypocrisy in light of Morosini’s death, the words speak for themselves.

With that being said, here’s hoping that the combustible striker means what he says about care and dignity. He’s displayed little, napalming bridges with his fellow City teammates, manager and almost everyone except this youngster. True, it’s fun to watch his self-inflicted meltdowns during games, but it’s never fun to see talent squandered. Here’s hoping that Morosini’s unfortunate passing gives Super Mario perspective that lasts.
